Biography

Past

Kanart Io was born to a noble family in the satellite nation of Elysion and raised to be a nobleman. He had a promising future perspective which would have easily allowed him to succeed in a high political position. He met Cass Tort, a high-ranking Elysions priestess during a religious function, and came to love her and they eventually got engaged, as their relationship was socially accepted without any issue.

But to his dismay, Cass had gotten herself cajoled in an love affair with a Demon Spy. And when her infidelity was discovered, his engagement with Cass was broken off, and she was banished from the nation, while the Demon Spy was apprehended and executed before her eyes, though not before the Demon Spy revealed numerous private details regarding his relation with Cass in front of everyone, which pained him when he listen to.

Though Cass had betrayed him, Kanart still loved her and wanted to marry her. So, he decided to elope with her, accepting all sacrifices needed, including his promising future prospects. Feeling regretful, Cass again fell in love with Kanart when he proposed to her.

But the Goddess, who was looking at the situation, wasn't happy with their decision, as she had other plans for them. In her frustration, she appeared before them and tried to warn them about the path they had decided. Instead of listening to the warning of the Goddess, both Kanart & Cass turned to her and requested her to grant a wish for them, which was to allow them to leave her World and move to a New World. Irritated and angered by how the pair didn't listen to her warnings, the Goddess decided to give them 12 Trials to clear. If they managed to clear them, she would fulfill their wish.

The Goddess had thought that the trials would be impossible for them to overcome, as neither of them had any talent for combat, special characteristics, or unique skills. But after many ups and downs, both Kanart & Cass had managed to complete all the given trials.

As there was no other option, the Goddess, while agreeing to help them, still tried to persuade them to change their decision to leave her World, going as far as to say that she would erase everything that had happened so that they wouldn't have to suffer. She even gave them a glimpse of the hardships they would suffer in the New World. But Cass rejected her pleas, saying that it was her fault for the whole issue, and she had made her decision as a result of it, which Kanart also accepted.

The Goddess finally caved in and allowed them to pass her World and move to Earth. But as Earth didn't allow people to have the direct blessing of God, she gave them 'protection' that would protect them for two years, allowing them to adjust to the harshness of Earth while also giving them the knowledge to understand the new language. Finally, she told them to take on the surname of "Misumi" if they have any guilt about leaving her World. She also demanded that they give "one precious thing that they gain in the new world" to her as a price.

Life on Earth

After arriving along with his wife, Kanart took on the name of Hayato Misumi and started to adjust to the harsh environment of Earth which gave them a hard time. But with the help of the Goddess protection, they managed to survive and Cass eventually gave birth to their three children; Yukiko, Makoto, and Mari. While Hayato became a Light Novel Author under the pen name of Kanato.

Knowing that one of his children would eventually be taken by the Goddess, Hayato and Cass decided to train them to be self-sufficient and protect themselves. Even though it was hard on Yukiko and Makoto especially, because of their weaker constitution, they continued with their hard training approach. Hayato and Cass even made the habit of taking yearly family photo, and maintaining a photo-album, which contained all the the pictures they had taken as a family.

Sometime later, Hayato and Cass met the Healer, who came across a suffering young Makoto, and learned their secrets. Upon consulting with Hayato and Cass, the Healer helped heal Makoto's physical weakness while removing his affinity to Wind and Healing as a drawback. This gave Hayato some relief as Makoto wouldn't suffer anymore.

Eventually the time came, and Makoto was taken to the Goddess World while leaving behind a letter. Knowing the whole situation, Hayato and Cass created a lie that Makoto had gone overseas to study, not even informing both his daughters about the truth, though he still feels sadness and guilt on how Makoto got taken away. For some reason, Kanart/Hayato and Cass decided to reveal the truth regarding the situation to Makoto's Archery teacher Natsu Munakata.
