Ilumgand Hopleys (イルムガンド＝ホープレイズ, Irumugando Hōpureizu) is a student of Rotsgard Academy and second in line of Hopleys House of Limia Kingdom.

Ilumgand was a noble person who wished to help commoners, as he believed it was his duty to do so.
As the story progresses, Illumgand undergoes a tragic transformation after he becomes involved with a dangerous group seeking to use him for their own purposes. When he was corrupted, he became vengeful and insane, willing to go to any lengths to kill Makoto.

lumgand disagreed with the decay of the nobles in Limia, and can even be considered hate. Even so, he obediently followed the idea of his father because he has to act the submissive child. Hidden inside him is his wish for the reform of the nobles.
He is the childhood friend of Luria Aensland, being the first person that supported his dreams, which leads him to develop a crush on her, but their relationship becomes strained after the fall of Kaleneon, which changed Luria’s life and stripped her of her noble status.
He develops an admiration for the hero Hibiki Otonashi, seeking to follow her in her future reform of the kingdoms. He mostly provided her information or helped out in the financing area.

His relationship with Luria Aensland is marked by tension when they meet again in Rotsgard, as Illumgand still views her through the lens of her previous lives, and she practically doesn’t remember anything of her life in the Aensland territory do to the trauma. He fails to understand the depth of Luria’s hardships and is unable to reconcile the changes in both their lives.
After his conversation with Luria is interrupted by Makoto, who in the process also humiliates him, Illumgand begins to develop an unhealthy obsession with Makoto, driven by a need to regain his pride and prove his worth. His repeated failures and frustrations further deepen his obsession, leading him down a darker path as he seeks more power.
He was manipulated by Rona who gives him cursed potions and a necklace that corrupts those who can't control their emotions, which turns him into a monster. As a result, he loses his humanity and becomes a rampaging beast. After unleashing chaos in the school' tournament, Makoto's students were forced to eliminate him after everyone else fails to do so. Mio finally gives the final blow upon discovering that he survived, despite the fact that he regained his senses.
Powers & Abilities[]
Ilumgand was one of the most outstanding students of Rotsgard Academy, both as a warrior and a magician capable of using Wind magic. His skills, however, were rather amateurish, being vastly outclassed by Makoto's students.

- In an alternate timeline, he could have become a member of Hibiki Otonashi's party. In this alternate timeline, he attacks Makoto, but is killed by him seeking revenge against Hibiki.
