Tomoe's Offshoot in Manga
Tomoe's Offshoot, or Fragment, is a short 'chibi' version of Tomoe who barely reaches the height of Makoto Misumi's waist. Like Tomoe, she wears Japanese-themed clothing but in a more masculine/tomboy manner, consisting of an altered kimono top almost like an uwagi (martial arts uniform top) with shortened sleeves rolled up and tied, shorts, sandals, and cloth wrapped around her forearms. Her hairstyle is virtually identical to Tomoe's.
Personality[]
Unlike her original, the Offshoot's personability is more like a child, excitable, and yet she is respectful of her master Makoto Misumi . She would gleefully wake up Makoto each morning when he is in Asora.
Biography[]
The offshoot of Tomoe was created during the Highland Orcs celebration party at the fall of the fake Shèn. The Offshoot surveyed the new land of Asora to check the habitat and reported to Tomoe and Makoto in the morning, to the latter's surprise, who assumed that Tomoe had a daughter before being corrected.
From here, the Offshoot would stay in Asora, attempting to wake her master Makoto up each morning while he was there with a cheerful "good morning" and was present at the naming of Tomoe and Mio. She was also present when the current inhabitants of Asora decided on how to address Makoto, cheering alongside everyone when the name waka-sama (わかさま)/young master, was chosen. She would also take Makoto via a mist gate to meet the first of the new races who would be living in Asora alongside the Highland Orcs, such as the tribe of Elder Dwarves, the Mistio Lizards, and the Alkes.
The Offshoot would meet her end when the three adventurers who were invited into Asora were caught stealing equipment created by the Elder Dwarves, which was scheduled for disposal from a warehouse. Having sighted the charged Draupnir ring which were also being stolen, she attempted to contain the ring in a water barrier, telling a Young Orc to run and Hokuto to protect a small Orc child, but she would be unsuccessful, as the resulting explosion would kill two of the adventurers, the Young Orc, and herself. Such was the force of the explosion that not even their corpses were left behind, having disintegrated into nothingness, with fragments of their consciousness left in the surrounding area before slowly evaporating. This however would be just enough for Makoto to determine what happened as he read the memories of their consciousness as they faded and he gave chase via mist gate to Elaine, the surviving adventurer who had escaped with some weapons.
After Makoto completed his revenge against the surviving adventurer, the next day, Makoto and the residents of Asora would hold a funeral service with a bonfire and feast to mourn the Offshoot and the Young Orc.
Legacy[]
The events of the Offshoot's death would teach Makoto a harsh lesson about his naivety in the Goddess' world he found himself in. He would re-organise the part of the demiplane reachable by hyuman adventurers to be walled off with the stronger inhabitants posing as guards/random villagers, fellow adventurers and shopkeepers.
A second fragment would be created later by Tomoe, with one of Makoto's Draupnir rings used as her core giving her power so that the first's fate would not be shared by the second. Makoto, having realised he never gave the first a name, wistfully named the second fragment Komoe.
