Tsukuyomi ( (つく) (よみ), Tsukuyomi) is the deity who rules over the Moon and the one who took on the job of transferring Makoto Misumi from Earth to the other world.

Design[]

Appearance[]

Tsukuyomi-Artwork (Anime)

He dresses up in old Japanese clothes. He has a silver crown with the picture of a golden crescent moon on his top head. His face has a beautiful scenery, with long white hair and matured body posture. On his chest is also a golden crescent moon just as the same as the one on his crown

Personality[]

Tsukuyomi is a humble individual who helps those he believes he is capable of helping, as long as he thinks it is the right thing to do. As a God of the Moon, he is not without faults, often has dark seething fits whenever he finds out something is unjustified and sets in course the moment that Makoto was discarded from his contracted duties to overthrow the Goddess and replace her with Makoto. Because he is the patron God of Makoto, Makoto has similar mood swings and personality traits.

Biography[]

He has a brother named Susanoo. He made a system that allowed moon gods to easily do their job, and another for sea gods.

Tsukuyomi gave his blessing of power to Makoto and later helped him after the Goddess dropped him to the Wasteland of her world.

After going into sleep because of giving most of his saved power to Makoto, the various gods he helped came together to supply power to him to help him awake faster, as without him there was no one to troubleshoot the programs. He was a workaholic who did many times the amount of work other gods are able to do, even with their assistants. He is currently resting in the dream realm of his mother, and it is expected that he will awake in roughly a century.

Powers & Abilities[]

It seems that the power of Tsukuyomi is similar to Sakai of Makoto in subtleness.

Tsukuyomi is also very skilled in administrative duties, especially in the huge amount of work he can take.

Despite being absent since the start of the series, he is by no means powerless, instead relying on other gods and goddesses to start a movement to overthrow the Goddess from her position since she is utterly lacking in management. It is shown in short stories that Tsukuyomi has similar dark personality traits to Makoto, making it clear that the Main character is his follower.

Relationships[]

Gods & Goddesses[]

Tsukuyomi has a positive relationship with many gods and goddesses from different pantheons, due to always being willing to lend a helping hand.

  • Amaterasu: The two brothers seem to share a fairly close relationship.
  • Susanoo
  • Daikokuten
  • Athena
  • Goddess: Goddess, unlike other deities, dislikes Tsukuyomi. Tsukuyomi also has a rather low opinion of Goddess. Though he tries to be politely disdainful towards his insults.

Etymology[]

  • The name Tsukuyomi means "monthly reading" (月読).

Trivia[]

  • As stated in the series, Tsukuyomi here is based on "Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto", a lunar deity of Shinto culture.
  • Ironically he is the reason his blessing has attracted many personalities towards Makoto, and had a hidden ulterior motive to make sure Makoto would have sex with different kinds of perverted women over the course of the series.
